Back to Rainfall 2006
Henry Mitchell remains my favorite garden author and one that I return to
time and time again.
He is most often described as "curmudgeonly", having
strong opinions on every aspect of gardening and, perhaps, life itself. As
a columnist for the Washington Post, he reflected on all the absurdity
of digging in the dirt and trying in vain to raise exotic beauties for their
fleeting glory. His down-to-earth approach and no-nonsense commentary remind
you that you are not alone in your foibles and failures, or your successes,
but one of many devoted gardeners.
I highly recommend that you meet Henry through one of the collections of
his columns that have appeared in book form.
