120th Annual Congress
Cleveland

One of the most often asked questions is "What should I pack?"  "What clothes should I bring?"  The following are suggestions.  Cleveland's Weather history indicates that temperatures should be between 67 and 72 degrees with reasonable humidity.  On average, June brings the city 4" of rain all month.

Compatriots Ladies

Just like any vacation where you expect to be doing some serious walking, you will want to pack sensible walking shoes. Even if you do not participate in planned tours, you will be putting on some miles inside the hotel. Many restaurants and shopping are close enough to walk to.

  • During Congress meeting times, Compatriots generally wear sport coats and ties, but some choose to wear polo shirts or casual shirts and trousers.
  • Black or White Dinner Jacket with Decorations, Colonial Attire or Continental Uniform are appropriate for banquets. A dark suit may also be worn.
  • A suit or sport coat with tie is suitable for  the Memorial Service on Sunday.
  • A Sport Coat would be suitable for the Awards Luncheon and other special breakfasts or luncheons.
  • Monday Night Minuteman Awards - all Minutemen wear white dinner jackets with black tie. (Mandatory)
  • General officers, Presidents General, VPsG, Candidates for Gen Office and Committee Chairs - Black or white dinner jackets with decorations or Continental Uniform are requested for  banquets. The Wednesday night banquet is the more formal of the two and white tie, gloves and tails are suggested for FPG's. newly elected General Officers and newly elected VPsG.
  • Black tux is always acceptable.
  • Casual attire is suitable for tours, and for any time when no specific function is planned.
  • Business type dresses/skirts or slacks are appropriate for the Orations Contest on Sunday night, the Youth Luncheon on Monday, the Ladies Auxiliary Meeting on Monday, any special breakfasts/luncheons that you may attend with your husband.
  • Ladies generally wear dresses/suits and some choose to wear hats for the Ladies Luncheon on Tuesday.
  • Colonial dress can be worn, if you choose, for the ladies lunch or either evening banquet.
  • Formal dress is appropriate for Tuesday and Wednesday night banquets. Although full length formal dresses are generally worn, you could also wear a cocktail or tea length dress. It is generally understood that, if you are making a choice, the Wednesday night President General's Banquet is the more formal of the two.
