Basic Design II   "At Home With Flowers"

Topiary Designs     What to Bring              Print PDF Document

A Topiary Design is a design created on a stylized or contrived tree form or living, clipped shrub or tree and adorned with cut plant material and (optional) non-plant material.

When gathering materials for your topiary, think outside the circle!    A topiary need not be a circle on a stick.  It does not even need to be entirely vertical.

You may raise your design on stems of one plant while using other plants and flowers to create the top design.  The top portion of the design is not necessarily round!

  • you could use fresh material in foam, or
  • you could use another base with dried plant material

Your container must be in proportion to the final design or it will appear to be top-heavy and unbalanced.   The design MUST INCLUDE A CONTAINER with plant material.

Let your imagination be your guide on this one.   While maintaining the basic concept of a topiary, you can be very creative.
